Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
