Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
