Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
