Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
