Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
