Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
