Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
