Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
