Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
