Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
