Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
