Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
