Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
