Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
