Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
