Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
