Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
