Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
