Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
