Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
