Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
