Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
