Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
