Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
