Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
