Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
