Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread around. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
