Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
