Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
