Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
