Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
