Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and well spread carpets. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
