Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the break of Day 1 And by ten nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 and by the night when it departs. 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 led rebellious lives, 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him and then is gracious and provides good things for him, he says: "My Lord has been gracious to me." 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 And none can bind as He will bind. 26 O you tranquil soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 Enter among My servants 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
