Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 And by ten nights, 2 and the even and the odd, 3 and by the passing night, 4 Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? 5 ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] 'Ad, 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? 8 And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 led rebellious lives, 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: 13 Verily thy Lord is in an ambuscade, 14 Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 Most certainly when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, 25 None bindeth as He then will bind. 26 But ah! thou soul at peace! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 enter, then, together with My [other true] servants 29 into My Paradise. 30
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
