Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn; 1 And by ten nights, 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, 7 The like of whom were never created in the realm; 8 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, 9 and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 Not at all – but rather you do not honour the orphan. 17 or urge one another to feed the destitute? 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 And comes your Lord, and angels row on row, 22 And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. 26 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, 27 Return towards your Lord – you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
