Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 and being, withal, of those who have attained to faith, and who enjoin upon one another patience in adversity, and enjoin upon one another compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
