Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 And by the begetter (i.e. Adam) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Thinks he that none can overcome him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 or of a needy [stranger] lying in the dust 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
