The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And you are free (from sin, to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah). 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
