The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 What will explain to you what the ascent is? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
