Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
