The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
