The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
