The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
