The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
