The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
