The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
