Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
