Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
