The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
