The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
